WATER STORAGE

With many new build and restyling projects moving towards pressurised hot water systems, there are two key criteria for good system performance: a mains water pressure greater than 2bar (preferably 3bar) and a flow rate at this pressure greater than 22 l/min.

Provided you have these, a pressurised system offers several benefits over conventional installations, such as:
  • The removal of the cold water storage tank from the loft
  • A balanced hot and cold water system throughout the house
  • The equivalent of 'power showers' without the need for expensive and noisy pumps
HOT WATER SUPPLY

Most of the popular sizes of hot water storage cylinders are available from stock, with bespoke sizes available for next day delivery if ordered before midday. Several manufacturers offer both direct and indirect methods of heating the cylinders. Megaflo is probably the market leader and offers a 25-year warranty on its stainless-steel cylinder. Alternatives to consider are JAB2, Stelflow and Elson Zircon.

COLD WATER SUPPLY

The standard installation for a house is a 50-gallon tank. We supply the Polytank range and conventional –rectangular, framed, circular and/or 'coffin' - tanks are normally available for next day delivery.

WATER SOFTENERS

If you live in the Stoneleigh area, your water is likely to be very hard and investing in a water softener will definitely make your appliances last longer and help keep limescale staining at bay in your new bathroom or kitchen. Of the many water softeners available, we supply and recommend the range from Atlantis, which we've found to be reliable and trouble free. There are both standard (conventional cold water storage tank) and high-flow (pressurised water system) options available.

If you don't have space for a water softener, an electronic water conditioner could be the answer. Easy to install (all you need is a 13A socket), these help keep limescale in solution, reducing the effects of lime deposits. We also sell salt in three varieties – tablet, granular and block – for all types of water softener.
