Heating and radiators

HEATING
AND RADIATORS

When it comes to room heating there are two main methods of supplying heat – underfloor heating and conventional radiators and towel rails with heating being delivered in one of two ways.

UNDERFLOOR HEATING

This is now a common alternative to radiators, normally installed as part of a 'new build' or extension along with solid floors. However, several manufacturers offer suspended floor systems, using ducted trays between the floor joists, and these can be installed retrospectively. We supply all options and – if given sufficient time – can organise for a heating plan and schedule to be coordinated with the teams from Maincor, Speedfit, Hep2O or Polypipe.

WET SYSTEM RADIATORS

These are available in styles from plain to exotic. The more traditional come in various configurations to provide different heat outputs, including single convectors, double panel with single and double convector, top edges and/or grilled end and top.  Our main suppliers for standard designs are Eco Radiators and UltraheatFor original and more contemporary options in steel, stainless steel and aluminium, there's a good choice from Bisque,  DQ Heating, Eskimo, L&MReina and Zehnder.

HEATED TOWEL RAILS

These can be a decorative heat source in kitchens and bathrooms. They come in a wide variety of styles, finishes and shapes, with designs extending from traditional rails through contemporary to minimalist. Available for any heating system or combinations of systems, towel rails can be electrical or installed in hot water heating systems. If fitted to a hot water heating system, most can be used independently of the central heating for summer use.

SBH is the only supplier to offer towel rails exclusively in stainless steel, the advantages over chrome being a 30% increase in heat output plus it's corrosion free. Flat, curved and half-moon styles all come with a lifetime warranty against defects (not damage by wear and tear).
The polished finish is similar to chrome, but radiators also come in anthracite, latte, mocha or white and, when a colour is added, heat output is increased by 35%.

Thames is our main supplier of standard style towel rails, with dual fuel options and multiple variants available, including white and chrome finishes and flat, bow-fronted and rail-on-rail styles.

Bisque, Eskimo and Zehnder offer some real 'statement' items in both radiators and towel rails – some are almost works of art.

Options in chrome, stainless steel and white are usually available from stock, but almost any colour of your choice is available for special order with approximately six-week delivery times.

BOILERS

This is a huge category and every gas installer has his or her own preference. We've listed the ones we sell most of here and are available for next day delivery. But please ask for advice on alternatives.

Vaillant is probably the most popular range of boilers in combination, open vent and system variants, with a standard one-, two- or three-year warranty.

Glow-worm is a sister company offering boilers with a smaller physical size for a similar output.

Worcester has a very extensive product range spanning domestic and industrial usage and is at the leading edge when it comes to environmental alternatives. Its renewable energy products include Greenstar condensing boilers, Greenskies solar water heating and Greenstore ground-source heat pumps.

Another leading domestic boiler manufacturer, Viessman also makes systems for commercial and industrial heating, energy and cooling, with a range comprising of boilers, solar thermal systems, heat pumps, domestic hot water cylinders and mechanical ventilation for various application areas and energy sources. Alternative manufacturers include Alpha, Baxi, Ideal, Potterton, Main IntaGas and Saunier-Duval.
